NewTuscanExperience a unique way to visit Tuscany

Back to custom itineraries

This is a sample itinerary to give you an idea of how we could plan your vacation. Normally, we begin by sending you a proposal and then work together closely with you to personalize the itinerary according to your specific interests and requirements. We also try to include any special events that might be taking place during the period of the visit.
Here we suggest starting and ending in Florence, however you can also plan to go straight to your villa when you arrive in Tuscany and depart from there on the last day if you have fewer days for your trip – just keep in mind that villa rentals run weekly from Saturday to Saturday.
The towns and venues mentioned in the itinerary will vary, based on the location of your selected accommodation. We try to plan day trips that require no more than 1 hour's driving time to the sightseeing destination – this way your visit can remain a vacation.

Sample Itinerary (Country Leisure: Chianti) 10 days/9 nights

DAY 1 (Fri.):
Arrive in Florence. Take a taxi from airport/station to a charming historic B&B or hotel in the city center. Free afternoon/evening in Florence to relax and dine in one of the city's great restaurants, (usually one of our representatives will come to meet you at the hotel in the late afternoon to say hello and provide suggestions for dinner and anything else you may need).
DAY 2 (Sat.):
After breakfast, take a guided walking tour through the historic city center of Florence. If you don't rent a car, our drivers will take you to the villa in the early afternoon. When you arrive, relax and settle in, enjoy the stunning views and explore the beautiful grounds.
A traditional Tuscan welcome dinner at the villa, prepared by your personal chef, will be the perfect way to end the day.

DAY 3 (Sun.):

Take a trip back in time and visit the picturesque town of Certaldo, home of the Decameron's famous author, Giovanni Boccaccio. A unique ride on a cable car brings you to the top of a panoramic hill where the medieval portion of the town is perched - a magical place that seems to have been untouched by the passing of time. A guide will show you the most important sites as you savor the incredible feeling of being immersed in history. Lunch will be in one of our favorite restaurants, overlooking the stunning Chianti valley. You'll take the scenic route to return to the villa, making a few stops along the way to give you the opportunity to take some memorable photos.
Dinner at the villa will be a hands-on pizza night, where you will join the "pizzaiolo" in creating your own favorite pizza.
DAY 4 (Mon.):
Visit a well known vineyard and the estate's wine cellars. A sommelier will introduce you to some of the finest Tuscan wines and you will taste the delicious local specialties: cheeses, cured meats and the famous crostini (savory tartlets). Tour an old fortress town and visit some of the charming artisan shops and historic monuments.
Dinner can be at or near the villa.
DAY 5 (Tues.):
A day with the artisans. You'll go into the workshop and see behind the scenes how world famous Italian handicrafts are made. Possible visits include: ceramics, gold or silver jewelry, textiles, leather goods, hand-blown glass and more… Your day will also include a visit to a charming historic town in Chianti where you will have lunch in a restaurant that belongs to the "Slow Food Movement".
In the evening, at the villa, you will enjoy a homemade meal and a "surprise" treat…

DAY 6 (Wed.):

A short trip to Castellina in Chianti, a charming town in the Chianti countryside where you will be treated to a memorable cooking class at an organic family-run farm. This fun experience wins over even those who were skeptical about taking a cooking course! Much more than a cooking class, you will spend the day on this stunning wine estate with the friendly owners who will explain and take you on a tour to see how the organic farm is run. Then you'll participate in a hands-on cooking class, while sipping their excellent wine and making new friends (or having fun with yours) - to prepare some of Tuscany's best traditional recipes. You'll even take a break for a wine tasting in the estate's cellars. After lunch, you can take a walk thorough nearby Castellina in Chianti to discover some of its hidden secrets.
Late afternoon return to the villa where you can relax and later enjoy a light dinner "at home".

DAY 7 (Thurs.):

Today, if you are with a large group, you can decide to split up and do two different activities, so everyone can pick what they like best:
Indulge yourself at a well-known luxurious thermal Spa for a half-day rejuvenating escape. State of the art facilities and treatments will ensure an incredible experience of total relaxation and well-being. The Day-Spa package includes access to the thermal pool, several body treatments and a delicious lunch at the Spa's excellent restaurant.
If you prefer, take a guided nature walk in one of the beautiful Tuscan Parkland Preserves. Discover the incredible wildlife in the area. Immerse yourselves in the natural beauty that makes this region outstanding. You can have a picnic lunch to complete your outing.
Everyone will meet back at the house in time to take a rest and get ready for dinner at a charming local restaurant.
DAY 8 (Fri.):
Your final day will include another outing to a picturesque old village. You will visit a farm where you'll see how pecorino cheese is made. An informal lunch with the family that runs the estate will conclude the tour.
You'll return to the villa in time to rest and pack, before the sumptuous farewell dinner by the chef at the house.

DAY 9 (Sat.):
Leave the villa in the morning after breakfast. Return to Florence and check into a historic B&B or hotel for the final night. Spend a free afternoon enjoying the city.
Enjoy dinner at a characteristic restaurant.

DAY 10 (Sun.):

After breakfast, it is "arrivederci" (which means "see you again")…
We hope you had a memorable vacation with NewTuscanExperience! Hopefully we'll have you back again soon to try another itinerary or a different province!
